Accidental Death & Dismemberment Coverage
No Cost Insurance for PEF Members.
Accidents happen all the time and can occur anywhere. You can’t always prevent them, but you can make sure you have the protection you need. The PEF Membership Benefits Program sponsors Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance from Sun Life. Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance provides extra financial protection if you or your dependents suffer from a covered accidental injury or accidental death.
How does it work?
If you are an active, dues-paying PEF member, you are automatically covered for $15,000 of AD&D insurance coverage at no cost to you. You will receive a payment if you suffer a covered accidental injury (see examples below) or an accidental death.
This chart shows potential benefit amounts, assuming you have $15,000 of AD&D coverage.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage provides an additional benefit equal to the amount of your life insurance coverage and is payable if your death occurs as a direct result of a covered accidental bodily injury sustained while injured, provided death occurs within 365 days of the accident.
- If a covered accident results in your death, your beneficiary will receive 100% of your AD&D coverage amount.
- Receive up to a maximum of 100% of your AD&D coverage amount for losses resulting from one accident.
- Use the benefit to pay for injury-related expenses or to help replace lost income.
