College Tuition Reimbursement (CTR) & Nurses’
Enhanced College Tuition Reimbursement Programs
for PEF-Represented Employees

Made available through the NYS Governor’s Office of Employee Relations

Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (PS&T) Unit members may access tuition benefits through the recently negotiated PEF and GOER tuition reimbursement program for the 2017 calendar year. 

College Tuition Reimbursement (CTR) Program:

Employees can apply for full or partial reimbursement for as many as two qualifying courses at any accredited college or university once the course has been successfully completed and payment has been made to the school. Courses must begin between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017.

Please Note: There is a limited amount of funding available for these programs. Therefore, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funding for the 2017 calendar year is exhausted. Undergraduate course reimbursement is increasing from a maximum of $1,080 to $1,400 per four credit course/$350 per credit hour. Graduate course reimbursement is increasing from a maximum of $1,812 to $2,200 per four credit course/$550 per credit hour.

Nurses’ Enhanced College Tuition Reimbursement (NECTR) Program

For eligible PEF-represented nurses, this enhanced program provides up to two additional CTR reimbursements for qualifying tuition costs. Nurses who meet eligibility requirements may use additional CTR reimbursement toward extra courses, or they may apply an enhanced CTR reimbursement to a single qualifying course where the cost of tuition exceeds the maximum value of a CTR reimbursement under the regular CTR program.

Nurses Enhanced WSR (NEWSR) Program

Provides enhanced training opportunities for PEF-represented nurses for the period of January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017. This program supplements benefits already available through the regular WSR program.

Certification and Licensure Exam Fee Reimbursement (CLEFR) Program

Provides reimbursement for the cost of examinations for first time certification, licensure, or designation of PEF-represented employees between the time period of January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017. Examination fees to renew certifications, licenses or designations previously obtained by an employee are not reimbursable. CLEFR maximum reimbursement is increasing from $750 to $1,000.

Workshop and Seminar Reimbursement (WSR) Program

Provides full or partial reimbursement to current PEF-represented employees for attendance at non-credit bearing professional development courses, workshops, conferences and seminars given by accredited providers that begin between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. WSR maximum reimbursement is increasing from $1,250 to $1,600.
